What Is Bingo and Its Different Variations

Bingo is one of the most popular gambling games, thanks to its low barrier to entry, rich history and exciting gameplay. Participants are given a card at the start of the game and must mark off the numbers as they’re called. The first person to get a line or a row has a “bingo,” and as long as their card is correctly filled out, they will win a prize. There are many different variations of bingo that we will look at in this article.

90-Ball Bingo

90-ball bingo is the highest number of balls you can commonly expect to see in a bingo game. Each ticket consists of three rows and nine columns, giving players a total of twenty-seven numbers. Tickets are often sold in strips of six, which means that you have to keep track of six different tickets while the game is in play, giving you more chances to win. Players can call bingo when they complete one, two, or three lines.

80-Ball Bingo

A game that’s most common in the UK, 80-ball bingo can be just as fun and exciting as 90-ball bingo. Each ticket consists of four rows and four columns, making an even grid of sixteen numbers. These tickets are often sold in strips of five, so there are plenty of opportunities to win, and each strip is guaranteed to have all of the numbers from one to eighty. Players can call bingo when they fill out the agreed-upon pattern on a single ticket.

75-Ball Bingo

75-ball bingo is most commonly played in the United States and is somewhat different from the previous versions. Rather than having multiple tickets on a strip, players are handed one 5×5 grid with the letters B, I, N, G, and O above each column. Each letter has a group of numbers assigned to it; B has 1-15, I has 16-30, N has 31-45, G has 46-60, and O has 61-75. There are only twenty-four numbers on the card, as the very middle of the grid is a free space, which can be marked immediately. Players can call bingo after completing a row or a column.

30-Ball Bingo

This is a much smaller version of the game of bingo and is likely the lowest number of balls you’ll ever see used! It’s marketed as a speed version of the game, as rounds of 30-ball bingo are often over within minutes. However, this version of bingo can only be found online. Players are given cards with three rows and three columns. As the rows and columns in this game are so small, players must complete the whole card before they can call bingo.

Slingo Bingo

Slingo bingo combines online slot machines and bingo, making it very different from other versions of the game we’ve discussed. While this game is perfect for fans of bingo and slots, players can also find separate slot and bingo games in online lists like Platin slots UK if they’d like to keep them apart. Players are given a 5×5 bingo card, below which is a slot machine. Players must spin the slot machine and match the numbers on the reels with the numbers on the cards. When you complete a row or a column, you move one step up the prize ladder. The aim is to reach the top of the prize ladder and win the grand prize.

Math Bingo

If you’re looking for more of a challenge, then math bingo may be the game for you. Math bingo is often used as a teaching method in classrooms to teach simple or complex equations. Players are given a bingo card, often in a 4×4 or 5×5 grid, and the teacher calls out an equation the answer of which corresponds to a number on the card. This means that the players must solve the equations correctly to mark off the right numbers. Players win when they make either a row or a column.

If you want to try the game of bingo for yourself, there are plenty of great games to choose from. 30-ball bingo is great if you’re in a hurry, but if you want plenty of chances to win, then 90-ball bingo may be the game for you.
